My immediate family member works for Marriott and she tells me some insane horror stories

She is known for being a bit dramatic. Also, I have been fortunate for a while, to work for employers I like, and to not have to worry about finances too much. I’ll admit, I have become disconnected with folks that are working at the bottom rungs for corporations, so I have always discounted many of her stories as just complaining, but they are just too consistent and often. Today she tells me about them requiring folks to CLOCK OUT (the irony of taking away, rather than giving, during the holidays) for 1.5 hrs early to attend their Christmas party. It was advertised as a Christmas brunch. When they arrived, the spread was pancakes and pb&j sandwiches. Another significant concern is how they manage leave. The amount of weeks that are blocked where they absolutely cannot take leave, and much of their leave can’t carry over into the next year,…

Another significant concern is how they manage leave. The amount of weeks that are blocked where they absolutely cannot take leave, and much of their leave can’t carry over into the next year, they really don’t have any leave until midway into the year and later, and right when all the holidays start popping up and their leave gets blocked off. It’s wild.

Anybody else have experience with Marriott, specifically in their call centers?
