My job fucked me over

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. Had a pretty horrible experience with my employer yesterday and wanted to share. I’m a leased employee (work for anthem but a staffing firm pays me) and I accepted my job back in December. They sent me my employment agreement when I accepted the offer and it listed my pay, the date of my first paycheck and all of the paid holidays I would get. Pretty normal stuff. My employment agreement stated Presidents’ Day was a paid holiday. Sweet, so I didn’t work on Presidents’ Day. Last week I notice I didn’t receive holiday pay. I notified my employer immediately and they assured me I would get my holiday pay next paycheck (on 3/10). Kinda annoying but I could wait a week. Of course I didn’t get my holiday pay yesterday either. I called them again and they didn’t seem to understand…

Of course I didn’t get my holiday pay yesterday either. I called them again and they didn’t seem to understand why I didn’t get the holiday pay. They told me they would call my bank to do a wire transfer, and I would receive the money the same day. Definitely annoyed at this point but trying to be patient with these people.

I wait a few hours and hear nothing. I call them again and they said HR was supposed to get back with me to let me know they sent me the wrong employment agreement. I actually didn’t have Presidents Day off and a couple other holidays were wrong too. And because Presidents’ Day wasn’t actually a paid holiday and I didn’t work that day, it was most likely I wouldn’t be compensated for that day.

Their best solution was to use one of my PTO days so I still receive my pay. So now one of my pto days is being taken away because they fucked up royally. It took them 3 months to realize they sent me the wrong document, promised me I would get my pay for 2 weeks and now I’m being punished for their mistakes. Just seems really unfair.

I’m lucky enough to have parents who are able and willing to help if I need it, but a lot of people don’t have that kind of support. What if something like this happened to someone with 0 help and didn’t have the pto? They would be screwed. Majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck right now. messing with peoples money, especially now when almost everyone is struggling, is SO irresponsible.

Sorry for the rant, I’m just sick of working for companies who couldn’t give less than a shit about their employees. It’s draining and depressing
