I ended up getting covid early this month and was (obviously) required to be out. Well, what they didn't tell me was I couldn't come back until I was negative even if I was fine and not showing any symptoms and it had to be a PCR test from a actual doctor or pharmacy. Your think that sounds reasonable, but this is without pay or any kind of help, and it could take weeks or even months to test negative. I finally test negative, go back to work to find out that they moved someone to my work station, over half my work supplies were missing and I get shoved into a corner of the building that's probably never been cleaned, with little to no supplies and is extremely far away from the work flow area and supplies.
This is extremely saddening, I loved working here but this whole experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I expressed my concerns to my boss and he basically gave me the whole “it's out of my control” bs and said “that's just how it is” and when I asked the coworker who moved into my desk where some of my stuff was, he said you were out for 2+ weeks, I have no idea.
I'm really tempted to walk out, especially with gas prices in my area being $4.50+ (southeast US) and my commute being 30+ miles a day one day, as well as only making $15 an hour. The problem is, finding work that pays more or higher is hard. They all want degrees, or a stupid amount of experience for an entry level job.
