Not sure how to start this, so I will start in October. There are some issues before then, but this is more facility wide.
I work for a large grocery chain. The facility I work for fills prescriptions, and sends them to the pharmacies attached to the grocery stores.
In the beginning of October, there was an employee meeting. The weekend shifts were adding one hour each day. The explanation given is, the 4 facilities that opened in the last year to help with our workload, do as much in 8 hours as we do in 1. Not sure if all 4 collectively do that little work, or if it is just one in particular, but the company decided it made sense to run an extra hour here, than a full shift.
So, our facility works extra on weekends, so another facility can have their weekends off.
There were some people quitting.
A couple weeks later, a sign shows up in the breakroom, the pharmacy techs are getting a large retention bonus, if they stay for the next 6 months.
Now, in itself, not a bad thing. No problem with the techs getting a bonus. But the way it was shown to everyone, hey, we don’t care if anyone else leaves, as long as the pharmacy techs stay.
I wonder how much work the pharmacy techs can get done in 8 hours if they have to do the work of all the other departments as well?
