Holy Hilton Hotel Betrayal.

I have been working at this hotel in Arkansas, for a year and a half, never complaining and always doing my job, being what I thought a very good employee. No write ups or calls to the office. Recently they begin cutting hours about 3 months ago, I use to receive 36 hours a week, it dropped to 26 hours a week. I did this for about 4-5 weeks, then explained to my manager that I need to drop from working 4 days a week at hotel to just 2. Working the only 2 days I got ample hours on, which was 7 each day. The other 2 days were breakfast shifts were I received 5 and half hours of work. I let them know I want to continue working here, but I also need more money, so I wanted to find a part time job.

They said they understand and that I would be fine to work just these 2 days.

So I begin job hunting and letting every employer I come across for last 2-3 months that I need these 2 specific days off (Tuesday&Wednesday) as I really did enjoy my hotel job.

I applied to a little over 63 jobs, with only 3 interviews, and nothing came of it. However I found out last week that me and my co worker were training someone, and that instead of my usual 14 hours this week, I was cut 2 hours.

I thought it was odd, but I assumed to help train the person in case me or my co-worker are sick or can’t work that day. Management never told me about the hours getting cut, I found out by looking at the schedule.

Tuesday and Wednesday come around, I train the new co worker how to do everything, and I ask my manager if my hours are changing so I could know if I need to come in 2 hours later for next week, just like this week. He told me yes, it should be just like this week. And that was end of conversation.

On Wednesday at that time, next weeks schedule wasn’t posted and I don’t work again till next Tuesday. I come in next Tuesday and my hours have been cut 2 hours both days, not just on Wednesday. He never told me, and I talk to my manager that day about various things before seeing my new schedule, manager leaves and then that’s when I finally saw the schedule

However he also has the schedule for next week up too. Where I don’t work a single day. I was cut to 0 hours a week.

Very upset and beside myself, I text my manager asking why wasn’t it communicated that I would have no hours, and if I was being let go.

He told me he didn’t have the hours to give me this week, and that he has to focus on full time employees first (the co worker I trained)

I explain to him I’m only part time cause of my hours getting cut, and that since I’m getting 0 hours I will need to file unemployment.

He told me I can’t file as I had told my employer I had a restricted schedule. When I told them about not work the to 5.5 hour days as I look for another job, so I could have a more open schedule for 2nd job too.

Then he proceeds to tell me that I also can’t file unemployment as I’m not a full time employee. They don’t want me to file, and he doesn’t want to fire or lay me off. They want me to quit. That’s why I’m at 0 hours. And the lack of communication has made me felt the ultimate betrayal from this company.

3 weeks before Christmas. Gotta love it.
