I finally got the surgery I need for my inguinal hernia that has been causing me extreme pain for a couple months now. I explained to my HR and my supervisor that the pain has been increasing especially with walking and I was given “light duty” after I saw a doctor. Except literally the very next day I came in after seeing the doctor and explaining to my work about the situation and my need for surgery, my supervisor immediately told me “well I don't want you sitting around all night so start sweeping out the freezers” and these are industrial freezers to store resin in and they are bigger than a house and we have many of them. I had to stop because the pain got so bad that I couldn't walk. Instead of helping me out and giving me time off to get appointments done and a surgery scheduled, they told me I still need to come in and do it around the schedule. We have been understaffed for a while and they can't keep people because everyone hates working there and just keeps quitting. So they were frustrated with me the entire time I couldn't do my regular work even though I got this hernia at work.
Long story short, I finally got my surgery, and the doctor had to remove 2 nerves that had gotten ground down, which is what explained my excruciating pain when walking at work, and now I have permanent numbness in part of my groin and the crevice of my thigh. It was either that or have chronic pain the rest of my life.
Because of my workplace, I now have permanent damage to my body and they do not care. The only thing they care about is when I can get back to work.
These places do not care about you and will literally sacrifice your health for their profits. So don't ever feel bad about fucking them over. Absolutely vile companies.
Fuck every single corporation.
