I never get hours (and I’m looking for another job). But always early in the morning when I’m sleeping they’ll call me (so I never hear the phone and I miss it). Or I’m out doing stuff or with family mid day and I’ll get a call and a voicemail like “hey wondering if you want to pick up a shift tonight”.
My friend who lives 2 hours is coming to see my new place and also give me some things I left at their home, and while they’re on the phone with me driving I get a call and I let it go to voicemail and then I listen and it’s my job saying “hey wanna work tonight?”
I don’t like this. Give me hours on the schedule or don’t bother me. Because when I see I have off I’m making other plans. Im not waiting around the clock because I MIGHT POSSIBLY get a call or not. Facepalm. And they always do it on the weekend too because people call out more.
My other retail job was never like this in my other city. Which is why I’m looking for a regular full time non-retail btw so I don’t have to deal with this. It’s just annoying and inconsiderate to some degree. I’m treated like a back up plan instead of getting full hours like everyone else. I’m not editing my life and canceling plans with people like my friend tonight because my work refuses to give me hours and at 5pm call me asking if I want to come in.
