My job went from “we work so well remotely” to “we want you back in the office 5 days a week” without reason

At first, we were told that we were working productively remotely and it was going great. Now they're circulating a survey asking employees what they think about their remote work experience and whether they would consider leaving if they were asked to come into the office 4-5 days a week. The funny part is the decision has already been made, so the survey is pretty much useless and is just being used as a check off sheet for the employer. I heard somebody from higher management said “Well if you have a problem with commuting, then just come in 5 days a week.” In terms of work production and efficiency, I find no difference in remote vs in-person. The only difference is when I drive into the office, it takes an extra 2-3 hours out of my day for commuting and sitting in traffic. In fact, I would argue that…

In fact, I would argue that working remotely is more productive because you're not constantly having conversations with people throughout the day just to kill time.
