My manager is a c suite executive. They are a compliance officer at a start up. We have really struggled because of a culture of unrealistic and unclear expectations, information gatekeeping and micromanagement that has bread distrust and diminished performance. All created by them. We had a layoff where a director that had voiced concerns about them was laid off. Most recently in the last 30 days:
– a leader that used to report to them resigned and is now a contractor reporting to the CEO (my manager wrote a 3 page letter sayings they were underperforming and that lead them to resign among other things)
– a leader that joined 5 months ago was told they’re being replaced because of poor performance/not good fit (they recruited for his replacement without telling him he’s underperforming)
– an IC abruptly quit without any communication
– a manager who’s been here the longest put in their notice
Our team has been effectively cut in half all within less than 6 months. We no longer have anyone in management that reports to them just ICs and we all now report to them.
The narrative continues to be that these people were underperforming and were not good fits. The HR executive is not objective and is friends so no concerns are actually being reported up or addressed. I am on my way out but I wish I could do something. Is there anything I can do?
Ideas:
– post on Glassdoor warning future hires
– email the CEO using a dummy account
I get that the best thing here is probably to just leave. But these power games and they way people are being treated like chess pieces is really frustrating me.
