I started my job in October and was very clear with everyone I spoke with that I had a vacation in December. I discussed it with my manger my first week and followed up with an email and she said the days would not be a problem. A week before my vacation I am being threatened that if I don’t show up to work those days I can be fired. Is this legal? The employee handbook says unexcused absences would be considered voluntary termination. Although they were approved. Would I be able collect unemployment? I am in California.
