I (20M) have been working in hospitality for the past 6 months, night shift, very quiet, usually a few hours of downtime per night
I work 4 nights per week, 2 nights with the Nights Manager and 2 nights with another Colleague, I get along absolutely fine with the other workers here and I even go out my way to help set up breakfast in the morning because the department are very understaffed, there is currently 1 waiter working breakfast for an average of 60 people
Anyway, as a human being, sometimes I need to go to the toilet, My manager has followed me into the men's toilets on 4 occassions now (Not literally following behind me, he'll wait 10-15 minutes and if he doesn't see me he'll come looking), to accuse me of 'hiding' from him. I'm not exaggerating when I say I do 90% of the work when I'm on shift with him, while he sits at the front desk to micromanage, honestly I'm pretty insulted at this point, I'm on my feet all night, doing everything and he has the audacity to follow me into the bathroom, and proceed to start telling me off about how I'm avoiding work, all whilst I'm taking a shit, it is extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional
He claims he was having a bad night tonight as a resident was locked out of their room earlier and he was unable to fix it (this lead to the resident having to move to another hotel, at which point my manager kicked a radiator full throttle in frustration, talking about how everyone here is a fucking idiot for losing his master key, which has been missing for weeks).
This is by far the best job I've ever had, I like the nightshift and the downtime gives me some time to work on side hustles after I get everything done, but he's making me seriously want to leave, I'm highly considering going above his head and emailing all of the previous points to the General Manager, stating that if nothing changes, I am going to walk, is this a good idea? Does anyone have any additional advice? I am at a loss right now
