I work in a distribution center and I was coming back from lunch last night when I saw my manager at the control table slump over on a reach truck and start whipping it in donuts. He hit several support beams, and almost a couple employees who were trying to hit the emergency cut off.
He had no recollection of the event afterward. The operations manager didn’t call 911, just spoke to him for a couple minutes and let him drive home. DRIVE HOME. They didn’t contact his wife, didn’t offer to take him home or even follow him.
This operations manager touts safety because he had someone DIE on his watch several years ago and yet he does NOTHING.
The clerk who witnessed it brought up concerns and he told her “well he’s a man and he’s stubborn” and said he can’t keep our boss from coming back in. Our boss texted her today and said he’ll be back tomorrow night.
She was pissed. I’m pissed. She came in early and went to the building manager today and no one even bothered to tell him what happened. I don’t understand. We’ve called 911 several times in the last month for an employee with diabetes who had a drop in sugar, but not for a manager who might have had a stroke?
