Wanted to tell this to someone and figured this subreddit is perfect to tell this to.
So I got a new job, been working here for almost 2 months now. I get paid hourly, on average I get 15-17 hours a week. When I started a ton of shifts needed to be picked up so my work week looked like 20-23 hours a week. My paycheck looked good, I was happy but then whenever I am at work they tell me to leave earlier than I usually do. They told me to do my outs so I did them and it's takes me about 40 minutes to finish my outs without rushing. Yeah no, they want me to rush because the past 2 weeks they yell at me though the microphone to go home now. This happened today.
Me: cleaning a table
Manager: “Hey (me), you can do your outs now. I want you out of here by 8:50”
Me: looks at watch and it's 8:28 Uh I'm cleaning a table rn though? I'll start my outs afterwards.
Manager: Yeah okay, but you need to leave by 8:50
Me: knows this is impossible because I have 70 dishes in my bus tub and the dish pit sucks Okay, I'll try my best.
Me: in the middle of rushing my butt off but I stop rushing because why would I run for a job paying me 5.75 an hour.
Manager: Hey, you done your outs yet?
Me: No, not yet.
Manager: Hurry up and complete them!
Me: I am though?
It's been like this everytime I work and it's irritating me. The managers watch me like a hawk and constantly ask me if I'm done my outs when I'm actively doing them. I know you don't want to pay me but you're a multimillion dollar business, you can afford to pay me $5, relax.
