My “me too” experience ended up changing things for the better.

I worked for a major grocery store chain for over a decade when I was put in a situation where I was told that I would have to keep working alongside my current boss who I accused of being sexually inappropriate due to there being no witnesses and for not telling them immediately when it happened (I waited a month). My store's team leader and HR told me to continue working alongside this guy and to let them know immediately if it happens again. I was only able to get out of the store when I called my regional HR and explained the situation. Right away they gave me the opportunity to transfer, no questions asked. The good news, I found out that after I left the company, regional made policies that would prevent anyone else from going through what I went through. Bonus good news: my sexually inappropriate boss was gone shortly after I left and the store manager lost his store and position entirely.

That was 5 years ago this winter. It still stings remembering not being listened to or believed, but in the end speaking up helped change things, and I'm happy for that.

Someone posted about getting a “you were right” message from a former employer and it really resonated with me. Even if it doesn't change what happened to you, it feels good to finally be vindicated.
