I usually never post in this subreddit but never work with families because now my supervisor picks her brother over anyone who actually works there and everyone who works there can see that we’re basically working for her family now and it’s screwing everyone else over
Her brother has been here for almost 3 years yet doesn’t help out, doesn’t stay past 9pm on busy nights, throws temper tantrums whenever he doesn’t get his way. They’ve only done one event compared to over my 500 something events. They can’t even do bathrooms because “Ew gross” even though they’ve been there for years so they’re past the “I don’t know how to do it” excuse. In the summer I was doing 10s/40s and they would only do an hour…..
I’ve been complaining about him for almost a year about how worthless he is and every time I would bring up how lazy he was, they would ignore me or shrug it off then when I almost got fired for complaining about how lazy he was, they acted like I never brought it up.
He literally watches Netflix and takes a half hour lunch when they only work 5 hours and they’re not supposed to unless they work 6 and a half hours or longer.
They left during a power outage and a busy night and I stayed to help out so others wouldn’t stay late. My supervisor was like “I’m so mad” and I felt no sympathy because I knew she wouldn’t do anything about it cause it just proves my point
Yet she’s fine if I complain about a newbie who wasn’t trained properly(even she admitted that she didn’t train her properly) then she gets mad at the newbie for not knowing how to do anything. She also constantly stands by and lets others get thrown under the bus but hates it when people call her brother out for being lazy.
I also am starting to think that she tries to almost bait me into complaining about her brother and I just reply with “No comment” or roll my eyes
Everyone there doesn’t like the brother because he’s lazy as hell and yells at everyone. But if we complain about him then we get in trouble.
It also doesn’t seem fair that her brother gets so little work due to his disabilities yet it feels like I’m doing 10X as much even though I also have disabilities.
It’s why I’ve been thinking about leaving for months. I’m sort of sick of feeling like I gotta watch everything I say and only complain to certain people and just keep to myself and I try to do that yet the more we all talk when no one is around to hear us the more I realize she’s gonna be a terrible supervisor because of her favoritism and it doesn’t seem fair to us that we constantly get screwed over due to it.
I’ve heard that she’s on very thin ice so if they keep screwing up, I don’t think she’s gonna be around much longer so I’m just trying to bide my time and keep quiet cause I don’t think she’s gonna last the full year.
I’ve also heard that if my bosses are dumb enough to fire me over the brother, they would be shitcanned by the building almost immediately after because everyone there likes me too much and they see how hard I work so it’s nice to know that the building even has my back.
