Rant.
Much of my state, including the county I live and work in, is under a severe winter storm warning tonight, and a blizzard warning beginning noon tomorrow.
Temperatures will be below -30 degrees Fahrenheit all day tomorrow, and there will be wind speeds of up to 40 mph all day tomorrow. The National Weather Service is expecting whiteout conditions and next to no visibility for drivers. Even before the blizzard warning, conditions are expected to be at “near-blizzard conditions.”
The NWS also said, “The winds will create blowing snow and possible blizzard conditions, which coupled with dangerously cold wind chills, will make for dangerous and potentially life threatening conditions if you become stranded in your vehicle.”
Most of my (very large) office commutes to work via driving on various highways. They said they will not be closing the office or allowing anyone to work remotely who doesn’t normally work remotely on Thursdays. They may or may not have a half-day.
I don’t even understand what half of the day they’d let us off for, considering it will be dangerous all day.
I don’t have enough PTO for a full day or I’d tell them I’m not coming in.
I don’t want to risk my life and the life of anyone who needs to pick me up if I get stranded (there will be tow restrictions meaning it’s too dangerous for government officials to pull people out of the ditch) by driving to and from work tomorrow.
Idk what to do, but I’m angry.
