So my roommate works at McDonalds and over the course of a year and a half he was able to earn a promotion to be a pit lead. Two months ago, management moved around some of the equipment. This however left a sort of pallet in the working path of my roommate. My roommate warned management that it posed a serious injury risk to him. They did nothing. He hurt himself in a minor way several times. Management did nothing. Then on 2/18, my roommate hits the pallet and suffers a severe injury to his left knee and is left barely able to stand or care for himself. The truly laughably infuriating part about it all is that even even on the night of his injury where the entire staff wanted to call him an ambulance because he was in so much pain he could not get up off the ground; management wanted him to finish his shift.
So now, I've been taking care of him because he can barely move at all while we try to get in to get some kind of medical evaluation. I've been trying to research work injury lawyers/law to see what we can do and I set up a gofundme for medical and personal expenses while we look into workers comp (I don't know if I would be allowed to post the link so I'll keep it out for now)
I'm just truly at a loss for what to do because my roommate and best friend is in all this pain from something that was completely avoidable and the stress of it all has had an immediate and severe effect on my own health problems. I'm just also so lost over how someone can be so personally deficient as to put someone else in that kind of risk and then when that risk comes to fruition ask them to continue harming themselves for the sake of profit.
What a world…
