He used to work at a non profit as a therapist and now he works at a for profit as a therapist. He actually like his new for profit workplace more than his nonprofit work place. At the non profit he had to deal with workplace politics, do stuff not in his job description and commute to work. His old manager at the nonprofit micromanages him and pressures him to do overtime constantly under the excuse of “the community needs you”. Then they offer him a 3% raise for inflation adjustment while the executive director got a 12% raise. When he asked why they said they don’t have the budget.
At the new for profit place he works remotely and sets his own hours. So dude wakes up at 10 am these days. And gets paid a lot more. Of course for profits like Amazon sucks. but if you have to be exploited choose the one that is most tolerable.
Don’t let nonprofits guilt trip you into tolerating horrible treatment. Shitty nonprofits deserve to go under just like shitty for profits. And you can look up the salary of some nonprofit executive members online.
Also this guy has a doctorate in clinical psychology so he has a lot of options.
