TLDR: Uncles boss refuses to pay his crew for any driving time and has been doing this for over a year.
My uncle works for an electrical company. I found out today his boss refuses to pay him and his crew for driving time. They have been doing this over a year, driving at least an hour and a half and sometimes three hours daily to job sights. He bought my uncle a gift for Xmas (around 1k) and said “You’ve made me so much money this year, I wanted to give back to you.” I did the math and at minimum he has taken at least $5000 worth in driving time over the course of the year from just my Uncle, not including the rest of the crew. I suggested notifying the DOL and my family said “well it’s best to leave it alone since it’s been going on this long.”
I’m absolutely disgusted with them.
