My work changed my duties and schedule relatively unexpectedly.

I work at a store which I am not naming that receives its items via donations. For a few weeks I would work in receiving and would assist the customers bringing in the donations, then sort the items. One day I was told by one of the managers or other higher up staff that I wouldn’t be working in that section and that they would have me doing some other work throughout the store. For a few weeks I would work in receiving and would assist the customers bringing in the donations, then sort the items.

One day I was told by one of the managers or other higher up staff that I wouldn’t be working in that section and that they would have me doing some other work throughout the store. It’s been months and they still haven’t put me back in receiving. Should I ask and/or wait?

Also I am not getting many hours AND I got my shifts changed. Several months ago I got shifts for the later part of the day which I hated. I was for the past few months also working shifts earlier in the day which I like but now I’m again getting shifts later on in the day which I hate. Do I ask about it or suggest a change?

And when I am doing the other tasks, it’s mostly cleaning and other minor organizational tasks. Not much meaningful or as good as I was doing. As others all seem to participate in cleaning and similar tasks regardless of their role.

How do I get back to doing the role that I was previously doing and aim to get shifts earlier on in the day instead ?
