For the last few weeks, my place of employment has been experiencing several issues in which we have had a plumber onsite working on various sinks and what not. As of this morning, the sinks in the restrooms do not provide running water. My manager messaged the company stating that all of our buildings restrooms are currently out of order and we are not allowed to use them, therefore, we must seek “offsite facilities”.
I am posting today to see if I can get any information regarding how egregious this is and whether or not this is grounds for me to be able to leave work without any complications. From my understanding, a few google searches have shown me that it appears to be an OSHA violation if your place of employment can’t provide working facilities / running water. For reference, I am in the state of California. Ultimately, I do not want to stay at work if we don’t even have running water at our disposal or can’t even use the restroom should we need to do so. What are my options?
