I work in big discount chain that has about 15 billion in revenue (2018). They have trouble hiring 3rd shift because they're not competitive. I take a truck and process merchandise. This is what our truck looks like. Look at the difference between hours needed and hours scheduled. Everyone is in a constant panic trying to finish the job because left over work just makes the next day harder.
I should also mention our payroll is at $3,000 + in the green every week and we aren't allowed to request overtime hours because they average out the expenditures for our stores in the district and because the other stores are in the red we are screwed.
The problem isn't even our store manager. She's as stressed as everyone else. All our employees are great. We work hard. Corporate fucks all of us. We've all decided that when it is time for us to move on no one gives notice and we go at once.
I'd go on strike but I can't ask my employees who are check to check with multiple single moms to forfeit a paycheck. I'm so depressed about how we're all treated. I only go to work because if I call out it makes it harder on everyone else.
Sorry this isn't well written. I'm just angry typing on my phone. This entire truck was processed with 6 people with only some apparel left for carryover. 🤬
