Need advice!

My department has been bleeding staff like crazy, either firings or people jumping ship. The staff in my department has gone down from like 15+ to just 4 of us. Instead of hiring more people, my job is deciding to just consolidate positions and outsource jobs to consultants who they’re afraid to call in for help because then they would have to pay the consultants for every consult. It’s gotten to a point where they are expecting me to start taking on more and more responsibility. Is it shitty for me to be standing my ground that they need to re negotiate my salary if I’m going to be loaded with more responsibility? I’ve expressed the desire to re negotiate if they decided to go forward with this plan and I get the vibe that they won’t play ball (got laughed at the first time I brought it up) I’ve never had an office job before, I was a freelancer my whole career until now and I’m used to doing exactly what I was hired to do and nothing more. I hate this corporate expectation that I’m going to roll over and do whatever they want even if it’s outside what my employment contract outlines.
