I was hired on back in october for an IT job. I needed the work and still do pretty bad. I am on probation until janurary 3rd and im supposed to be hitting a quota of task complete per day but i cant because there just isnt enough of them. No joke, we have 983 employees and per day we are getting about 1100 task and each of us are supposed to be hitting 9 task per day. The math doesnt work out.
Manager has said repeatedly “we will find a place for everyone” but recently i caught the tail end of a conversation between him and his boss where his boss said they intend to fire everyone who isnt meeting metrics in janurary which means they are reducing us from almost 1000 employees down to 23. My manager is fighting this by trying to prove there is a shortage because most of our clients are on vacation but the algorithim has a memory that only goes back 3 weeks apparently so he has no proof according to his boss because screenshots of past task loads dont count according to him.
To make things even worse they are 60+ new interns every 3 weeks (literally on the 5th my team went from 5 people to 8 because of the hiring craze) because the hiring algorithim is programmed wrong and is taking the number of task per day and multiplying instead of dividing to find how many people we need per team. It is actually insane and ive shown the higher ups whats wrong and demonstrated it as have others but they arnt computer people despite running a tech company.
Im so scared im going to lose this job in a month and if i do i wont make rent. What can I do here?
