Neighbor just retired from his fast food job after 30+ years. Guess what generous gift they gave him for his years of hard work:

A family member of mine attended a retirement party for her neighbor, who just retired from working at a major fast food chain for over 30 years. I won't name the company, so I'll refer to it as “Burrito Alarm.” For background, her neighbor has down syndrome and has been working part time at the same location. And despite BA slowly cutting back his hours over the years, he remained a loyal hard worker for the company, rarely missing a shift. So naturally after all of that time, he wanted a retirement party because his friends were having one too. He even saved up some money to take a vacation with his family, and is elated that he finally gets some well deserved time off. So naturally after all of that time, he wanted a retirement party because his friends were having one too. He even saved up some money to take a vacation with his family, and is elated that he finally gets some well deserved time off.

At his party, one of my relatives asked his family if BA did anything special for his retirement.

Guess what BA gave him?

A paper certificate and a gift card for BA.

For 30+ years of loyalty!

He and his family are not fazed or upset over this, but I am still taken aback by this company's lack of generosity and gratitude towards him. He's lived next door to my family for 40+ years, and his like family to us.

I would like to do something nice for him, but obviously don't want to make this into an issue since I am the only one who's still a little upset over this.
