I been at quite a few jobs now, I'm always seen as a good worker, getting things done, being a point of contact for things nobody else knows how to do, etc.
Always have good reviews and all that.
Most I've ever gotten is a 5% raise and a pat on the back, while I see others thrive and flourish in their careers.
I know it doesn't matter and we should job hop frequently to get the best possible compensation, benefits, etc. In all honesty I don't even know if I wanted to be in charge of a team, for example. I know I should ask for it of that's what I wanted. But it would be nice to at least be asked or considered for the position.
If I had to guess I think it has more to do with my personality than the way I work. I'm not that great with people I guess? But I don't stick my head in the sand. I put myself out there as much as I can. Doesn't seem to work.
