I know the company I work for is notorious for keeping company profits to themselves and I have had some tough negotiations to raise my once non-existent wages (which are now adequate to my position). However, I can’t help but think they are getting even more stingy in acquiring new staff, and I don’t feel good about them taking advantage of newcomers to the company. Not only that, I don’t see how this person will make it the length of the contract, or even be willing to stay on and extend afterwards. Is there anything that can be done? Or is it just his shit luck/fate for this contract and I can be transparent for the next one as to what his bargaining should be like? Nothing is clearly posted online so there’s no way for him to know or be able to compare to what we have gotten as recent hires in the past.

I’m just worried about what this means for the company’s ethics going forward, or their value in reasonable and equal pay.
