New sanctions & new layoffs – the saga continues

As the story goes every time: The European Commissions office and the European Parliament members have decided on a new wave of sanctions on Russia and their partners due to the russian invasion on Ukraine. What are they going after now that they haven't done before? The 'partners' part. They are most likely going after yachts and boats again, specifically Monaco. It's no secret that the ultra-wealthy use Monaco as a playground, and russians did as well. Now, the EU plans to strike those dealing with russians through yachting brokerages that have offices located in Monaco amongst others. What does that mean for regular people? More layoffs. It's no secret that the ultra-wealthy use Monaco as a playground, and russians did as well. Now, the EU plans to strike those dealing with russians through yachting brokerages that have offices located in Monaco amongst others.

What does that mean for regular people? More layoffs. Massive layoffs perhaps, as layoffs are the most common tactic in cointaining losses after any major disturbance in the market or in the companies themselves. This comes to many of us as no surprise, given that I myself was let off due to the compan cutting costs. The higher-ups don't cut their ckechs or bonuses, they cut us off and that's exactly what's going to happen again.

We're about to see a new packet of sanctions released by the European Parliament and with it a new wave of unemployment hitting the EU. And with the rising cost of living crisis and the fact that 9% of the EU population is on the brink of becoming extremely poor; decisions like these are the absolute last thing we need right now.

The russian invasion on Ukraine is a terrible thing to happen, and it's happened at possibly the worst possible time for everyone involved. I feel bad for Ukraine and it's citizens, but the EU should look after their own people firstly. They cannot let their citizens suffer because of somebody else's war.
