It was the norm at the place I worked that when ever we had done better than expected we would either get pizza for lunch, or the company would give us breakfast. Well after the old store manager was replaced with a new one, he immediately discontinued this practice with the words “we pay you, that's all the reward you need” needless to say worker morale plummeted and several people went on sick-leave with stress, or found greener pastures.
