I work out of a small business that has its office in a duplex. The boss decided they wanted to remodel the employee bathroom and let us know that the bathroom would be unavailable for the half day we work on fridays and therefore the office would be closed. They said we could make up the hours for the day the office was closed during the 2 weeks before the remodel and just mark the work we did the weeks prior for the friday the office was closed. Which im pretty sure is wage theft considering they were asking us to work over 40 hours and use that for a future day instead of giving OT. Its now tuesday and the bathroom still isnt done. We have 9 hour days m-thurs and they havent even laid the grout which takes 24 hours to dry. Weve worked monday and tuesday for 9 hours each with no access to a bathroom. They have a 2nd bathroom upstairs but that is not available to employees ONLY the owners. They say we can walk a few blocks to the gas station and use the bathroom there. I might just be venting because they are here LOUDLY cutting tile 20ft away from me and i have to walk to a gas station to pee but is there anything i can do about this??
