Work groupchat got a text this morning from our manager that the district manager has declared no sitting AT ALL behind the register and anyone he finds sitting is fired on the spot. My manager doesn’t care at all but he also doesn’t want to lose any team members so he’s made us put away the one chair we kept behind the register. We all keep and follow a rule of no sitting while customers are in the store which makes complete sense to me. But no sitting at all? During a shift where basically my only task is to help customers and I get maybe 5 customers per shift. So I am just putting unnecessary strain on my feet and legs for no reason. I know this is a common issue in workplaces so I am curious to see other people’s thoughts or if you’ve ever been able to change a managers mind about this rule.
