No training and the “fake it till you make it” mentality is toxic

This isn't just at my new job but at every job since Covid. I work in Healthcare. Since Covid hit, people have been short staffed and patients have increased in numbers. A lot of nurses I know left or retired. I started a new job yesterday where I was to have a full week of training (40 hours) before going to the front desk. The training was on two company software programs, insurances and how to look up eligibility for all doctors (17 doctors), company policies (online) and was to take all week. I walked in yesterday morning and the person who put their two week notice in (my trainer) apparently called the office with a message about how she's done and never coming back. So, I was given an hour of “this is the computer system good luck” and placed at the front desk. I was told it's Monday and it's too busy to train. I have two women on both sides of me who said that I can “fake it till I make it”. We aren't allowed to get up to use the bathroom, I'm pretty sure I ran someone's credit card wrong, and I am blindly clicking through screens of software not knowing a damn thing I'm doing. Management, my boss, and human resources just sat in the back in their offices knowing I was getting screwed.

I got 3 hours of sleep due to the stress of angry patients and I think I'm ghosting this place.

tl;dr train your employees if you want to keep them
