i had an interview last week for a graveyard shift at a homeless services shelter. I’ve been trying for a while to get a job that aligns with my degree and makes me feel like i’m actually helping my community. the first round interviewer told me i’m their top candidate right now and the two positions they have available are either full time (12 am – 8 am monday -friday) or part time (12 am – 8 am saturday – sunday). the pay is $17 as of right now but she told me they’d do $19-20 as they’re raising wages this week. my second interview is on monday but the dilemma is that i also have an interview for a server position in a restaurant today. I worked as a server throughout college and actually really loved it and it brought in a good amount of money (i was able to pay my rent, groceries, etc). the pay is $15 hourly then whatever in tips. I’m not sure if the tips would be equivalent to the area i was in before as this restaurant doesn’t get as much traffic due to its location. I’m trying to move within a couple months so right now i’m trying to make as much money as i can to up my savings before moving. i’m not sure if i should a) take the full time graveyard position then work part time as a server or b) take the part time graveyard position and work full time as a server. the goal here is to bring in as much money as possible even if i’m bone tired because i just have to get out of where i’m currently staying. I hate knowing I’m going to be spending my 24 hours of a day either working or sleeping but I just have to find housing. I also don’t know how to broach the subject in the interview today bc i don’t want to say i have another job guaranteed and risk not getting hired here bc places are up their ass about that. i trust y’all in this sub more than a random advice one so any help is appreciated
