I didn’t know where to post this but felt like this community would get it. A couple of series of conversations between my boss and I.
I don’t work at a work from home job but my boss mentioned the other day about work from home jobs and how they are having people go back into the offices. And I said “oh really I have heard that a lot of places are going away from that because they don’t want to pay to rent offices anymore.” And she was like “they don’t care, they’ll pay for it because they think people aren’t working. People are only really working like 2-3 days a week. Doing all their work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays sometimes Thursdays and getting 4-5 day weeks.” And I straight up said to her. “If I could get all my work done in two days for my job I’d do that too.” And then someone interrupted us and she didn’t respond 🤷️🤣.
But honestly she has the biggest work horse mentality. A separate conversation we had was her talking about “who doesn’t work 5 days a week? How can you just not work 5 days a week?” And it’s so funny to me because she’s been leaving early everyday or taking random days off but if we take a day off because we’re sick or need to do stuff she talks shit behind our backs.
I have been at my job 2 years and I’m almost done with school now and was explaining to my boss about why I was going into teaching and had mentioned “Well I know that I’ll at least get benefits at basically any teaching job I get .” And her response was “yeah but they aren’t going to be good.” And I didn’t respond to it but I should’ve and said “but you don’t give us any!” We don’t get PTO, vacation, sick days, paid for holidays off (if we’re closed for a holiday we just won’t make any money for that day and we’re only open 5 days a week. So it’s not like we can make those hours up anywhere. We all basically have set hours at my place too.), we are all paid hourly but oh she must think she’s doing us a favor because we make ONE DOLLAR above minimum wage. My coworkers and I also think she’s pocketing money 🤷️.
I’m leaving in a couple months anyway so it’s not gonna affect me anymore but it’s getting so hard to continue on like this.
