Numbers are more important then people….

Used to work for a retail company and every morning they would have all of us gather around and talk about what the store made the previous day and the managers would be all excited when we hit the store goals and clap like trained seals. Others would clap as well but I would never clap or show any excitement. One day one of my managers actually approached me and asked me why I never showed any enthusiasm at the meetings. I straight up said this “Why be excited? not like I am getting any of that money. All your managers get bonuses when you hit goals. What do we get? Nothing. And pizza once in awhile doesn't count.” The look of shock on my managers face when I said that was more valuable to me at the time than any amount of money.
