Off My Chest; Two Days Before My Two Week Notice is Up

This post is one part unloading; one part question I’m employed with one of the worlds most popular proprietary electronics retailers. “Technical support” for lack of a more personally identifiable term for my role. While it was originally appealing because of the starting wage, the benefits package, and the fact that opportunities like this are few and far between in my city…my enthusiasm has worn off over the short six month period I’ve been with the company. I, as well as the people on my team tend to have to deal with some of the most unreasonable, emotionally taxing customer interactions you can imagine. Entitled, annoying, etc. The demands of management also tend to be much to say the least; troubleshoot issues, build personal connection, sell extended warranties, and look for opportunity to sell product…within a fifteen minute time span. I’m employed with one of the worlds most popular proprietary electronics retailers.

You are expected to be interacting with two or more customers at a time. They even champion a term for it; which I will omit to protect my identity.

A lot of you probably already know what company I’m taking about. Please do not name them in the comments as legal repercussions for public discussion of internal company protocol are written into the terms of my employment.

My experience is that it’s some of the most miserable work one can do. If I could sum it up; it’s like being an overworked emotional punching bag disguised as something incredibly virtuous. My wife and I are moving to a different city to pursue better opportunities at the end of the month. I am relieved.

With that being said; my last day is slated for this Wednesday. However my wife believes I’ve overstayed my time there, and often cites how it has clearly negatively impacted my emotional state. We’ve spent the good part of this morning discussing if I should even return to work to fulfill the remainder of my time there (three days); citing I could spend all the rest of this month doing much more important work at home like freelance work and making sure our move goes well.

Having given the context of my situation, do you all feel I should go back and do my last three days at this point? Or should I just chalk it up to an L and move on with my life? We aren’t hurting for money right now either, just for context…and have a little cushion in our savings that we swore to not touch unless it was for situation such as this.

Thanks for reading; appreciate any and all relatable replies and responses.
