I’m still a bit in shock, but basically I’ve spent the last two months looking for work after being let go from my previous role (which is a whole story of employer misconduct in itself) and I recently finally received an offer…
The role was/is as a Senior member of staff, with the responsibilities to match, and would have been something that would’ve otherwise been the perfect fit for me.
But the offered pay rate equated to an hourly rate barely over the current minimum wage in my country and actually lower than minimum wage when an increase to that comes into effect here from July 1.
I pretty well knew it was too low and not realistic, and to their credit my contacts in the organisation seemed to understand where I was coming from, but they wouldn’t (couldn’t) budge and I had to turn the offer down.
This job market is grim as hell, how can this be sustainable?
