Offered a promotion and pay cut…

So I’ve been working at a corporation as an employee in a non-degree holding position with a degree. I have been doing the work of a degree holding individual for several months now and a few months ago the entire degree holding staff (many of them with 10-15 years experience in the field) of my department left the company. I have been doing the work of all of those people who left and management has continually promised to replace those employees so I have help in performing my job. Corporate has even hired more managers for the department but still no employees. I have kept things going since then and this place hasn’t fallen completely apart yet. There are more managers than employees, now. So with all the promised hiring there has been a ton of jobs posted all over the place to fill the roles of people who left.…

So with all the promised hiring there has been a ton of jobs posted all over the place to fill the roles of people who left. Naturally, I applied to the entry level degree holding position. I actually got the job offer but it came with a PAY CUT.

I am in disbelief. I was so excited to get a nice little bump in pay as a reward for excepting a lot of extra responsibility with barely any training, relatively, and was shocked to see the offer.

I can’t decide if I want to negotiate (I definitely will) or just leave and get another job out of spite. I am in disbelief. I am a firm believer, now, that companies exist who literally do not care at all how much you do for them, even if it’s a gargantuan undertaking that several other individuals in the field constantly remark as unbelievable.

Sorry for being so vague, I’m just not comfortable sharing even basic details about this.
