So let me start by saying I have never had dust allergies, I’ve been working for 11 years in multiply offices and never had this issue before. Even my current boss, who I worked with in my last company, agrees it’s the vents and dust causing this because he has never heard me like this. I started this new company a year ago, and I noticed I kept getting throat and voice issues. But only recently I realised it’s from dust in the office. In my office, I am surrounded by empty desks; one next to me, 2 across the divider, and 2 behind me(can’t find anyone to fill them bc no one wants to work for this shitty company lol why am I here)
Anyway, I clean my desk every week and 5 days later a disgusting amount of dust comes back. I’m not spending my time cleaning 5 extra empty desks every week. Been back and forth to the doctor and I’ve developed nodes on my voice box from coughing from constant exposure, and the dust is constantly irritating it. I’m also a singer on the side and this is a fucking blow to that.
I have told office management twice, and they won’t pay for the premium cost of the cleaner to wipe down desks, only empty the desk bins. Apparently there’s a hvac guy that comes in once a month (bullshit) and “checks the system”, highly doubt they even change the filters. I already take antihistamines and it’s not working. I can’t work from home they would rather fire me than to let me wfh even though they preach “flexibility and work life balance”. It’s all bullshit.
What can I do if this is affecting my health, causing asthma, causing vocals nodules, constantly losing my voice/hoarse, doctor bills etc?
