Old job (mechanic) vs new job (crematory operator) update

So last year end of July I quit my mechanics job. Honestly I had been tired of it for some time and was tired of picking up the slack of other techs who didn't want to do certain jobs because it was beneath them. New job paid for me to get my crematory license which was a $450 course at no cost to me at all, passed it with no problems and honestly couldn't be happier. When I left my mechanics job I offered to stay for a measly $1 raise and to put me into the training course I had been promised for 3 years, boss declined so I left. No hard feelings he didn't want to keep me after 5 years that's his choice. Well last week my old boss called me to try and have a conversation to bring me back because they cannot keep anyone in…

Well last week my old boss called me to try and have a conversation to bring me back because they cannot keep anyone in my old position and well the class c techs have been getting backed up on work which man's the class b and a techs are now having to take work that is causing their work to be pushed back further. My old boss tried to negotiate giving me a whole whopping $.50 more than I was making when I left, oh yay for me I'd be making $18 compared to the $20 I make now. I negotiated back match my current pay rate, put my medical insurance back to it's same state which was free after 3 years there and give me 40 hrs pto and 40 hrs vacation. He don't like my negotiation and tried to explain to me how he was trying to “help me out”. So I gave him the answer he gave me last year “from a business perspective I'm going to keep things how they are”.

In short he has been getting his ear chewed off for letting me leave and not negotiating keeping me last year and now is trying to get me to come back for less than I asked for last year and the shop is not doing so well because they're behind on work getting done.

Don't feel bad one bit I have friends who still work there and are laughing because they've been through 7 people since last July trying to fill my old position.
