Antiwork

On several occasions, I’ve been hired for a low paying admin job that was expected to do the job of two people. This was a central role to the workflow of the entire small business.

These kinds of hiring practices are misleading and basically abusive. Who wants to be exploited to the point where they are expected to answer a variety of customer questions daily, schedule many orders, communicate with various staff members, oversee the creation of detailed jobs, and assist upper management with their administrative processes. That person would also need to research information and have a high degree of accuracy with overseeing the progress of many projects. It’s impossible for one person to do in a small business. That’s why virtual assistants or additional part-time office support are so useful.
