One of my least favorite things about working in customer service is how customers think they can treat us like shit

So I work at an office job that deals with customer service, and they're strict about everyone going to lunch on time so they can avoid overtime if they can. Some asshole ass Karen today waltzed in literally as I hit the clock out button to go on my lunch, and she started strutting up to my window. I told her “I'm sorry ma'am I just clocked out for my lunch I'll go get someone to help you” and she said with her hands on her hips like she owns the place “you need a lunch??? Who said you need a lunch????” Bitch who said you need a transaction? If you're gonna talk to us like that you can go somewhere else. I wish America normalized calling customers out. I wish America normalized calling customers out. If more places were allowed to tell a customer to fuck off when they started being entitled pieces of shit, I guarantee more people would stop doing it. The “customer is always right” mantra has absolutely ruined interactions with customers here. There are so many endless tales of abuse from customers because they know they can get away with it. It's like waving a T Bone steak in front of a pack of wolves.
