I work in a supermarket that's also a training/ experimental store, so they roll out stupidity. Back when China had been locked down for a while, they sent an e-mail lying about what we keep asking for in the quarterly survey. “We've heard you! We're relaxing the dress code. You can wear just the uniform apron!” Yesterday, they had a meeting that they tried to make me leave my lunchbreak early for. Yeah, first thing out of the manager's mouth is that we “went off the reservation” with the relaxed dress code. They're bringing back dress shirts, but we still need to wear the new uniform apron. Gee, China reopening is such a coincidence. Now for the dumb part. We have to wear another apron over our apron because we “Should not look like we've been frying chicken.” It will be our fault if we look like we're doing our job while doing our job. (We have huge orders especially on weekends. Today, I have a 96-piece order.) Oh, but they're being super nice in not charging women extra money when they need to change sizes while pregnant and after birth. Cue eyeroll. BTW, we keep asking for them to fix all the safety issues such as frayed wires behind the friers. (We spray the floor with water at night.) We also keep asking for necessary supplies, better pay, some damn respect. Remember kids, CEOS do not care about your safety. They care about you looking good on camera for them.
