Our work/insurance policies are a goddammit scam

A few months ago, I got laid off and informed my therapist that my insurance was ending soon. I had pretty decent insurance, so it was $10 an appointment. Well, they told me it would be $92… fine. January rolls around, and I get new insurance under a new employer, and my bill goes UP to $140. Confused as all fuck I asked billing why. “We have a sliding scale for patients who waive insurance. If you're using insurance you owe the rate they set.” So I have to pay for insurance…and pay MORE for therapy until I meet this godforsaken $2800 deductible? Or say fuck it and just pay out of pocket and pay less, but have no money go toward the deductible?? The fact that we aren't burning this country to the ground like France seems to every other year for crap like this is astounding. What a…
