Out of state employees paid less

I moved across the country for a job and recently found out that two of my colleagues who happen to be from the area (same job, started a couple months before me) are paid more than me and another colleague who also moved for the job. We all have similar job experience, so it got me wondering if there’s a geographical ignorance at play. HR recognizes local businesses on a resume = higher pay. Out of state businesses they’re not familiar with = lower pay. I doubt it’s illegal, but really stings after spending money to move. Wondering if I should take any action on this or just accept it and move on?
