Overheard Boss Say “When I see someone who calls out that much I don’t want to approve their vacation request.”

I work at a place where every 2 weeks we accrue 4 hours Sick and 4 hours Vacation. I am in the USA by the way. I just overheard my direct Supervisor and his Supervisor talking about an employee's Vacation Leave Request and how they didn't want to approve it because the employee is one who calls out often. Mind you, we accrue Sick Leave every paycheck! Then the Supe's Supe said “He's just one of those people who uses every single hour he gets.” Uhhhh what's wrong with that?! I recently got a “Verbal Warning” about my attendance because I have called out 6 times in the past 8 months. That's less than the amount of Sick I accrue. What the heck! Work expects us to miss no more than 4 days a year on our current attendance policy, yet we accrue 12 days a year. Oh, and one of those 6 absences was because I had COVID!!

It's absolutely cruel to brag about offering 12 days a year but then punish you for using them.
