I am so ticked off at corporate America right now. I recently graduated college with literally 4 degrees!! I have a double major in Management and Finance, and a double minor in Human Resources and Leadership. I also have around 3 years of corporate experience, graduated with a 3.68 GPA, and I am in multitudes of financial and business organizations/clubs.
I applied for a position that pays around 60k a year, which is not insane considering that I have experience, and 4 degrees!!! I was denied this position and offered a position in their company that paid around 25k a year. I could make more money working as a cashier at Target. I then applied for 18 more positions in my city and was only given one position, but it only paid 35 grand.
I don't live in a small town, and all of the big four accounting firms are in my city. There are large financial institutions here as well, and they say they are all hiring in these positions that will pay well, and claim they are looking for good people. I am overqualified on paper, and I don't understand why I can't get a position at any company. I've never even been given a ticket. I don't understand. I was explicitly told by one company that I would not be hired because they were looking for someone who isn't white. I completely understand this, but if they haven't filled this position in OVER 8 MONTHS shouldn't I be at least be considered? I'm not mad that I didn't get a job over someone else, I'm mad because I should be qualified for at least 1 of these base level jobs. I don't understand how there can be so many job openings for these essentially base level positions, but they won't hire anyone to fill them.
I have been a militant independent in the political landscape, but I simply don't understand how companies that market themselves as so woke can offer so little for my knowledge. UGH. If a company is really going to claim that they are woke, then they wouldn't have denied me because of my race, and pay their employees more than a grocery store cashier to do work that requires degrees. I don't care if they choose another candidate over me, but if the position is still open months after I applied and was subsequently denied, at least consider me.
Corporate America is a fraud. If ay company says that they are politically motivated towards one side, they are not. Their only motivation is money, and any company that claims otherwise is a scam.
