As an American, I highly recommend overseas contracting if you can manage it. The pay is usually good and tax free, you get the change of scenery/culture, and the work climate is generally vastly more laid back than what you deal with stateside. I contracted in Kabul, Afghanistan right up until the taliban took over and lemme tell you, it was the literal best work of my life.
