Im still a student at a university, and yeah i know study is unrelated to this group. But people study so they can get work. And people romanticise the idea of studying 24 hours a day and pulling all nighters, which is no different from romanticising overworking and doing a side hustle. Both of which i hate. Its not only the studying all day that gets me. There is a strong pressure for students to get part time jobs or internships. A handful of students promote their internship. They flaunt their job position on social media as if it is a trophy. It seems like studying and working has become a big part people's identity. Then theres the usually work culture. Glorifying overworking as if you are fighting day and night to end world war 2 and the idea of taking not taking annual leaves. Doing side hustles and even…

I want to know everyone's opinions on the PTO requesting time limits. Recently, my manager said that now we have to request PTO exactly 30 days in advance or unless it's a special circumstance, it'll be denied. 30 days, though? idk, that seems kinda crazy to me. ALSO, they want us to give the reason why we are asking for PTO off. Like what, I can't take a day off just for the sake of it, but I have to lie and say, “Oh well, I have a doctor's appt,” or something like that. It's PTO, it's already mine… Anyways, how far ahead do you think is acceptable to give notice for PTO?

First off the benefits aren’t great. It’s 50% premium covered by the employer. I already have benefits through the state, as a single parent, I was able to get healthcare for a good price and better coverage than what my work offers me. I’ve only been at the job for 2 months, at 1 month I’m supposed to get my benefits package 401k, etc but never received it. I found out today that I was enrolled into a HSA and 401k profit sharing. Is this even legal?

Got stuck in an emergency psych ward, the psychiatrist asked me “what was the longest you ever held a job?” I replied “2 years, I leave whenever it gets toxic.” “Here take this anti-psychotic,” shoves a small paper cup with meds into face. This leads me to believe, these places are not about mental health issues, but of gatekeepers to a productive society. Modern day slavery.

So, I got suspended for three days today. Allegedly, I “defaced company property”. The rumor is that I wrote an obscene word on a note posted on a bulletin board by the time clock. The alleged obscenity was removed by someone before the end of the night. I got called into the office, written up and suspended for three days. Where's the evidence? No existing. I got suspended because someone said I did a thing that there's no evidence even happened. I'll be using these three days to polish my resume and start job hunting. Needless to say, I won't be giving notice when I find a new gig.
