I found an ad for a position for substitute custodian for k12 district. I was excited to apply. Pay was $18.66 an hour but what caught me off guard was they were asking for my driving record. What does my driving record have to do with cleaning facilities? What if i ride the bus? Or get a ride? 🤔
Chronically ill and paying the bills
Six months ago I left a stressful job I loved that was literally destroying my health for a boring job I hate that’s destroying my mental health and self esteem. Everyone keeps telling me “things will get better,” “it’s only been six months,” but I’ve never really been bad at anything before—I’m a jack of all trades master of none kind of person. I’m going to be 29 this year and finally found something I’m truly bad at: sales. When I applied for the job I was not clearly informed that our office would function essentially like a call center and rely exclusively on sales. Had I know this I never would have applied in the first place. I hate calling people. I hate getting yelled at and I hate getting hung up on, but you know what? I wouldn’t want to talk to me either. After a month or so of dating, I was fairly disturbed at some of the stories I heard about some of the issues she had to deal with, and how the employees were treated by the management in general. She is a very talented stylist and has a true passion for what she does. Most of my working career has had some level of design involved, so I feel fairly confident that I can recognize good work when I see it. She’s good. Unfortunately, she would occasionally leave work in tears due to either horrible treatment from her customers, her managers, or both. I eventually started floating the…
I mean, the Guy Fawkes mask or anarchy symbol or even the hammer and sickle is fine and all, but I would imagine you need something (for the United States) that shouts something like “Unions! Universal healthcare!” I’m a graphics design student but only recently have gotten on this sub. I would like to hear some ideas from you all and we can workshop some viral symbols that gather new people to an ideology of work reform. Edit: I was thinking something everybody already knows like the letter “F” that could be extended and used in creative ways. “America is F” or something.
